Lauren and Ben are the absolute sweetest couple! And boy did Lauren wow in her Maggie Sottero Odette gown from House of Hines. There was no doubt the bride stole the show this night, even though the groom was indeed very handsome in a custom made tux.
After a First Look Session, the Wedding Party and photographer, Luke Usry, hit the streets for some candid shots. Since Maconites are the friendly, outgoing people they are, well wishes were given from passersby.
Wanting a wedding that was unique and had a sophisticated, downtown nightclub vibe, Lauren and Ben chose SoChi Gallery for their location. The concrete, brick, and steel venue is modern and sleek, but keeps its charm and coziness with warm lighting and the aged brick. Koryn and I kept to this theme by using mainly high top tables, black linens, minimalist centerpieces of palm leaves and tall calla lilies. We set up individual seating areas in the loft area with black leather sofas and chairs. We then added black wrought iron candelabras that held chunky white candles.
Rather than set up the loft like a traditional wedding venue, Lauren and Ben chose to have their ceremony on the catwalk with the guests standing and sitting below. We draped this area with black fabric covering the two windows and a shower of mini lights against the brick backlighting them. Needless to say our photographer told me later this was the "most intense ten minutes of his life" as he maneuvered from the catwalk to a ladder on the floor during the ceremony, but his photos are absolutely amazing! (You are welcome, Luke, for the great additions to your portfolio, LOL).
After the ceremony the party commenced and it was epic. Heavy hors d'oeuvres, including shot glasses with tomato bisque and grilled cheese triangles, were washed down with an open bar of carefully selected beer and wines. Later in the evening Lauren and Ben's signature cocktails flowed freely. "Lauren's Lavender" was a vodka based concoction that could definitely get someone in a lot of trouble, while "The Carpetbagger" was a bourbon drinker's delight.
The music was fun and upbeat and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Leaving in a shower of sparklers down Second Street, Lauren and Ben ended their night being driven back to their private getaway at Burke Mansion.
